The 110-acre Motherhouse Campus landscape had evolved over the years through plant memorial donations, often without the benefit of a plan, attention to maintenance requirements, or consideration of the surrounding context.  The overall goal was to incorporate as much of the existing plant materials as possible into the Landscape Master Plan, while reducing maintenance and creating organization and a sense of place.

The plan establishes character, goals, and standards and includes recommendations for:

  • Respecting the heritage of the campus

  • Setting a direction for incremental improvements in the landscape

  • Sensitivity to reasonable maintenance and landscape management principles
