Fruit Belt Rail Trail

The Fruit Belt Rail Trail was completed in summer of 2027, funded by three Michigan DNR Trust Fund Development Grants, two Michigan DNR Trust Fund Acquisition Grants, a Consumers Energy Planet Award, and significant effort by Oshtemo Township Parks.

Once the site of the Fruit Belt Line, the two-mile non-motorized linear trail stretches southwest from Flesher Field to the township line. Paved parking lots are located at Sixth Street and Flesher Field. Amenities along the trail corridor include black walnut benches, wayfinding signage, and native wildflower seeding to control erosion.

OCBA was the project lead and landscape architect, completing site plan review, permitting, and coordination. Balkema Construction Inc., was the general contractor with portions of work completed by Consumers Energy and Oshtemo Township.
